An unstoppable unbeaten streak is marked by a series of consistent performances that reflect not only skill but also teamwork and strategy. UD Almería are having an extraordinary season because after the Christmas break, they have had the best start to 2025. First, they thrashed Sevilla FC in the Spanish Cup round of 32 tie with a 4-1 spectacular comeback and this Sunday, they turned on the style to beat Córdoba CF 0-3 at the Nuevo Arcángel stadium, where no team had won this season. They have extended their brilliant unbeaten streak to 13 league fixtures. Rubi's side begin to look very strong atop of the LaLiga Hypermotion table 3 points ahead of Elche CF and Racing de Santander, 4 points above CD Mirandés, 6 points ahead of Levante UD SD Huesca and Real Oviedo, and 8 points over Granada CF. They have scored 43 goals in 22 games... and Segunda top scorer Luis Suárez had grabbed 17 after finding the back of the net again. Léo Baptistāo and Nico Melamed accompanied him in this section.
Rubi opted for UD Almería 'B' youngster Quintanilla to make up for Melero's absence due to suspension, while Léo Baptistão, recovered from his muscle discomfort, returned to the starting XI to form a fearsome attacking tandem with Luis Suárez, in a 4-4-2 system. The meeting was demanding due to the campaign that Córdoba CF are enjoying especially on home turf. Maximiano, in the 19th minute, deflected Carracedo's cross shot from the edge of the area into a corner, which was the clearest chance for Iván Ania's outfit. UD Almería, solid and practical, gained momentum and in the 30th minute, they opened the scoring 0-1 when Luis Suárez converted a penalty committed on himself.
At half-time at 0-1, things couldn't have gotten better for the Indálicos after the restart. Two minutes later, Calderón was sent off for knocking down the Colombian striker when he was facing the goal. Shortly after, a well-timed cross booted by Bruno Langa was cleared by the defence and skilful Baptistao took advantage of it to double their lead 0-2.
UD Almería began to engineer scoring opportunities, which they did not materialise. Up to four counter-attacks failed, but after 68 minutes, Nico Melamed made it 0-3 with a thumping shot from within the box. Rubi's team commanded with class because they controlled Córdoba CF's attacks well and left with speed towards the opposing goal. With 80 minutes on the clock. Edgar, with a towering header and coming off a corner, nearly beat keeper Carlos Marín. In this second period, Robertone returned to action after 3 on the treatment table after undergoing surgery back in October for a shoulder dislocation, as well as Lázaro Vinicius after returning from his international loan spell at SE Palmeiras.
