Almeria want to dispel doubts

The Almeria first team do not back off and aim to step back in time to winning ways. There are 36 points left at stake, 21 of them to be won at Juegos Mediterraneos.

The Second Division it is that kind of tournament, in which a series of negative results do not spoil all the hard work done by a team during a remarkable season. It has already been six consecutive match days failing to come off with a victory. Almeria have got two great allies, time and potential, to step back in time to winning ways, which saw Almeria leading of the competition. The Smart Bank League is in the last third of the competition and there are still 36 points at stake in the twelve remaining matchdays to finish the championship. Almeria have more home games to play (7) than away games (5). There will be 21 points to be won at Juegos Mediterraneos, while the other 15 points will be up for grabs in away games against direct rivals such as Zaragoza and Girona, among others.

The first team players and the backroom team recognise that they are going through ‘a very bad run of results.’ At this point in time, if we compare the first-round to the second one, the Almeria squad won only 6 points less since the beginning of 2020. Taking everything into account, Almeria continue sitting third in the table. The Rojiblancos are only five points behind the automatic promotion spot, which is occupied by Real Zaragoza at the moment. Almeria are still to play the second leg against the current runners-up.

The team trained behind closed doors with a lot of finishing drills on Thursday. The squad will take part in another training session at the Anexo at 10.30 a.m. on Friday.
