Almeria still sitting third four points away from the automatic promotion spot

Huesca are one point behind the rojiblancos, while Girona are two points away; Almeria have a seven-point lead over seventh-placed Elche.

Almeria are still sitting third in the standings once matchday 29 of the SmartBank League is completed. Nevertheless, the rojiblancos are four points away from the automatic promotion spot. Huesca are one point behind the rojiblancos, while Girona are two points away. Almeria have a seven-point lead over seventh-placed Elche. 

Match week 29 began on Friday with Cádiz being defeated 1-0 by Sporting Gijón and ended with another defeat on Sunday, Huesca lost 2-0 to Rayo Vallecano. However, Real Zaragoza and Girona won their games. Almería missed a great opportunity to have approached back to the top of the ranking. With their last goalless draw against Fuenlabrada, Almeria cut the gap to leaders Cadiz to 5 points and have a one-point lead over fourth-placed Huesca. Cadiz and a Zaragoza are heads and shoulders above the rest of the Second Division at the moment. The fifth-placed Girona are moving forward after their 2-0 win over Ponferradina. 

As for matchday 30, bear in mind the rojiblancos are meeting the leaders Cádiz on Saturday. Real Zaragoza (four points above) and Huesca (one point behind), face rivals such as the bottom team Racing de Santander and Extremadura, respectively. All these matches will be played on Saturday. Girona are meeting Mirandés on Sunday. You never know what the future holds…
