Almería start preparations and get ready for fixture in Tenerife

The Rojiblancos remain third in the standings. Ivanildo and Robertone back into the fold. Balliu and Samú work with fitness coach

UD Almería started preparations for Friday’s fixture against CD Tenerife at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium (Matchday 38/ kick-off 9:00 p.m. Spain Time). With five fixtures to go, the Rojiblancos remain third in the standings with 63 points. It is true that the results are not as good as expected, but the same is happening to the other promotion-hunting sides who are playing to their strengths to get play-off spot.

UD Almeria have one-point advantage over fourth-placed CD Leganés. Sporting de Gijon are fifth and 5 points behind the Rojiblancos. Last but not least, sixth-placed Girona FC with 58 points, although things might change as Rayo Vallecano, who have collect 57 points so far, have to play CE Sabadell FC this Monday.

The UD Almeria players resumed training this Monday morning. A team session was held to show the team video analysis of the game as a group, discussing offensive and defensive actions and also analysing mistakes and positives from the last game against Real Oviedo. The Rojiblancos are eager to keep the third place in the table so they will seek to clinch a victory again on the island of Tenerife. For this new league appointment, newly appointed head coach Rubi will be able to name Ivanildo and Robertone in the squad list as they have already served their respective one-game bans.

As for the latest on Balliu and Samú’s fitness, both players are working with the fitness coach on the pitch nearing the end of their recovery processes. The 29-year-old right-back is recovering from rectus abdominis discomfort, while the Portuguese defensive midfielder sustained an injury on the back of his right thigh the day before the last match.

The squad exercise again on the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos ground this Tuesday (10:00 a.m. CEST). Next, on Wednesday and Thursday, the players will do so behind closed doors at the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium. The UD Almeria travelling squad fly charter to Tenerife on Friday morning.
