Almeria ‘B’ visit Vélez with the possibility of closing the gap on automatic promotion

The youth team prospects face current chart-toppers in the mini-league for promotion on Wednesday (kick-off 6:00 p.m. Spain Time)

After sharing the spoils on the first fixture of the mini-league for promotion to RFEF Segunda Division, a new game is underway with the Rojiblancos having the possibility of closing the gap on automatic promotion places. Almeria ‘B’ visit Velez this Wednesday (kick-off 6:00 p.m. CEST), the current chart-toppers with the highest club coefficient after picking up 38 points in 19 games.

The youngsters from UD Almeria will go into the match keenly aware that they must reduce to almost zero their margin of error through clinching victories against the top two-finishing teams. That is the way the young Rojiblancos must follow if they want to meet their aspirations of moving into the higher league on 9 May and therefore, avoiding having to extend the season by participating in the play-off in which the third promotion place is at stake.

Although Fernando Santos ‘Nandinho’ will not announce the squad list in advance, it is good to know that the head coach has the entire squad at his disposal to be able to draw up the list of 20 footballers who will be part of the Almeria ‘B’ travelling squad.

UD Almería ‘B’ currently occupy the fourth position in the table with a club coefficient of 1,61. The Academy youth squad are level with fifth-placed Torredonjimeno, however the Indálicos have a better scoring goal average. Almeria ‘B’ will be visiting their next adversaries, Vélez who are topping the table (2,00) followed by Mancha Real in the second automatic promotion slot (1,85). Antequera are third (1,63) while El Palo are fifth (1,47).
