Almería ‘B’ to face last mini-league home game looking to be in a stronger position

The youth team, whose automatic promotion hopes are in the balance, will go all out for a win to have an edge in the play-offs

With the last home game of the second phase underway, the UD Almería ‘B’ team will go all out for a win over Velez at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium (kick-off 12 noon Spain Time). The next rivals are already assured of promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF, while the young Rojiblancos, who beat El Palo 2-0 last Wednesday, go into the meeting with the intention of clinching a victory that will make them climb positions to have an advantage in the subsequent play-offs with the third promotion spot at stake.

The hopes for Almeria ‘B’ to win automatic promotion have been dashed since their distance with respect to second-placed Mancha Real is 6 points, which are the same that remain at stake. Nonetheless, the Jaén-based side have the same goal average but their goal difference is much higher than Almeria’s.

Almería ‘B’ host Vélez determined to bag all three home points and thus, advance positions in the standings with the home advantage for the play-offs. Not surprisingly, it is worth highlighting that the game of the next phase will be contested as a single game knockout, being played on the pitch of the best ranked team and in addition, the third and fourth sides of this mini-league will come together to play in the quarter-finals against teams coming from the repechage. At present, the Indálicos are fifth.

All the Almeria second-team players are eligible to feature in the next match including Dani Albiar, who has served a one-game suspension. Manu Pedre and Wellington could be involved in the game as they are stepping up their recovery processes. The presence of Largie Ramazani remains a doubt as the 20-year-old Belgian depends on the plans of the UD Almeria first-team.

The ball will start rolling during the fifth match of this promotion phase to Segunda Division RFEF at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium on Sunday from 12 noon onwards. The game will take place behind closed doors as a result of the measures adopted in Almería city to avoid the spread of Covid-19, however Footters will livestream the exciting game.
