Almería ‘B’ close out 2020 with a 2-0 victory over Huétor Vega and securing promotion spot
Goals from Robles and Jean Marc inspire the Almeria ‘B’ team to keep pace with the competition
Almería ‘B’ clinched again a victory by mastering ball possession and imposing their football on Huétor Vega (2-0). Robles and Jean Marco starred in the last fixture of 2020, inspiring the UD Almeria second-team to secure promotion spot to third-tier Second Division ‘B’.
Fernando Santos's boys had control of the game from the start, even though the homegrown players rued their first missed chances. The most outstanding took place within 25 minutes when Raúl Caballero finished off a delivery from the right wing over the crossbar.
The UD Almería Academy team were finding spaces and also end up putting themselves in front after a sensational counter-attack. It was the 39th minute when Lluís Tarrés took the ball in a corner-kick booted by the visitors and began an offensive play in which the ball went through Siles, Dani Albiar and Robles, who beat goalie Sergio.
Almeria were really close to pull one back in a fast-passing move in which Arvin Appiah drove but Robles did not reach the ball. This led to a Huétor Vega’s scoring opportunity in which Carri grazed the crossbar defended by keeper Lluís Tarrés.
At the beginning of the second half, Siles tried his luck from the left wing twice as soon as it kicked off. In the first attempt at goal, the winger made a pass that Caballero failed to connect since the defence played the ball and Albiar gained a corner-kick that ended with a shot from the same taker and a great save by the Granada-based goalkeeper.
The youth players were experiencing brilliant minutes of play and went through a phase in which they were close to doubling their lead. Thus, in the 76th minute, Jean Marco was in charge of making it 2-0 with a deep shot from the flank.
After the final whistle, Almería ‘B’ closed out 2020 with a great victory and occupying spot positions to play the next phase of the competition, which allows the team to fight for a place in Second Division ‘B’ next year.
