5-0: UD Almería blow CD Eldense away to regain play-off spot

The Rojiblancos demonstrated their impressive attacking arsenal and moved back into the top-six after 10 matches outside of the VIP zone. Luis Suárez scored another brace and provided a spectacular assist. Baptistão, Nico Melamed, and Gui Guedes also earned their names onto the scoresheet

The wind blew strongly this Sunday in Almería city and at the UD Almería Stadium on an unpleasant afternoon, but the real and authentic storm… of attacking football came from the Rojiblancos, who with a spectacular and enjoyable 5-0 win over CD Eldense returned to the promotion play-offs spots. They had been out of this VIP zone for the last 10 fixtures. Now, the objective is to remain there, and they have good reason to do so, as they demonstrated.

Rubi opted for a starting XI similar to last Tuesday's squad list against Racing de Ferrol, with the only change being the presence of Lopy, who replaced Selvi after serving a one-match suspension. Otherwise, it was the same, albeit in a very different version. And yet, the team struggled, to a certain extent, to get into the game despite having possession and taking the initiative.

CD Eldense, knowing that Real Zaragoza had won and securing their league status was 5 points away, had to score. In addition to positioning themselves well to control UD Almería, they created danger with their vertical football. UD Almería, who grew in strength, issued a warning in the 22nd minute with a thumping header from Arribas that went slightly over after a well-timed cross from Centelles. The Rojiblancos' storm began to blow and in just 5 minutes, it became a cyclone. In the 34th minute, a great pass from Baptistão to Luis Suárez, who controlled the ball with his chest inside the box, dropped the ball, and shot high.

A minute later, in the 35th minute, Marc Pubill set up the Brazilian to open the scoring 1-0 with a cross. In the 37th minute, Nico Melamed sent a rocket over the opponents' goal that was palmed away by the keeper, and in the 39th minute, the Catalan player finished off a play after winning the ball back from his opponent to double their lead 2-0. Spectacular!... although in the 42nd minute, Baptistão squandered another chance that hit the woodwork.

Fernando, back in the starting XI, made a brilliant save at the start of the second half, preventing the adversaries from pulling one back 2-1 and preventing them from getting back into the game. CD Eldense were easily getting into the Almería box, but the Rojiblancos' storm would soon blow again. UD Almería brilliantly put together a great play initiated by Edgar from the back to join the attack, which Luis Suárez finished off with a shot that just missed the post from the edge of the box. It was the 30th minute, just in the 54th minute.

With 69 minutes on the clock, the Colombian scored the fourth and his brace; a stunning goal with a piece of magic. In the 75th and 81st minutes, two more chances for Nico Melamed and Suárez were rued, and in the 89th minute, the 5-0 goal was completed in a masterpiece. The Segunda top scorer chipped the ball to Gui Guedes, who connected with the net.

UD Almería thus rounded out a brilliant the second match of this week's double-header in which they demonstrated their great potential and their desire to achieve their promotion goal.
