The UD Almería head coach emphasises: 'We're eager to bring positive energy and have the fans showing their backing.' The gaffer values the victory, although he points out: 'There's still a lot of work to be done; we're not even guaranteed a place in the play-offs.'
UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' reflected on the 5-0 stellar display in the press room, pleased with the victory, the result, and the team's performance. In fact, he stated: 'We're eager to bring positive energy so that the fans are happy with us; that they want to fully commit to helping us in this final push. With performances like today's, we're taking a step forward. However, there's still a lot of work to be done; we're not even guaranteed a place in the play-offs.'
Regarding the team's playing style, the Catalan admitted: 'Sometimes the way we play can lead to nervousness, trying to pass the ball behind, etc., but we're getting some really nice goals that way. It's been a great day, and let's see if we can end this bad run away from home.'
The Vilassar de Mar native acknowledged the importance of the victory and dreams of keeping a clean sheet so he can keep up automatic promotion hopes alive: 'We're getting closer to where we want to be and we're moving further away from Granada CF and SD Huesca, which is important. We'll see if we can get all the points because it's the slim chance we have of fighting for the top-two spots.'
The Catalan appealed to unity as the only possible path to promotion to Primera.' We work to keep the fans happy, although sometimes we don't manage to give them what they deserve. The only way we have to move up a division is for everyone to be together; it's essential because it makes the players feel good, give them an extra sprint, give their all. With this rocking atmosphere, we're contenders for anything.'
Finally, Rubi accepted some self-criticism, pointing out that UD Almería's Achilles heel has to do with away games: 'We've been very poor away from home and that's hurt us. That's been our biggest weakness, and we'll see if we can finish the season with other vital performances on the road.'
