2-1: UD Almería see their lead wiped out against Getafe CF

The Rojiblancos, who put themselves in front, could have doubled their lead, but rued missed chances and the opponents staged a comeback before half-time. The Indálicos tried until the final whistle, however they lost momentum

Although UD Almería took the early lead, they ended up falling to a 2-1 defeat to Getafe CF at the Coliseum Stadium. Ramazani put the Rojiblancos in front in the 7th minute, but in the 33rd and 45th minutes Getafe CF turned it around with goals from Greenwood and Borja Mayoral (2-1). This result would not record more goals until the final whistle.

As for the starting XI, Gaizka Garitano opted for a 4-4-2 formation that would be made up of Maximiano in goal, Mendes, Chumi, Edgar and Akieme defending; the midfield would be occupied by Embarba, Robertone, Baba and Ramazani, while the attacking third would be covered by Arribas and Léo Baptistão.

In the first half, we could see a UD Almería squad that lost momentum gradually towards half-time. The Indálicos started the match on the right foot, with very clear ideas and well structured, and therefore, as a result of this good performance, the opening goal was grabbed by Ramazani in the 7th minute after a corner, taking advantage of the assist in which Chumi flicked the ball on with his head.

The visitors continued to press and Léo Baptistão was about to sweep home the second goal chasing a loose ball within the box, but he went over the goal. This made Getafe CF react as they managed to create dangerous situations with a few chances. Greenwood found the leveller... a thunderbolt after 33 minutes, while in the 45th minute, Borja Mayoral broke the deadlock to stage a 2-1 comeback. Before heading down the tunnel, Edgar's effort nearly levelled the scores 2-2 with a shot from close range that narrowly missed the post.

The second half began just as the first had ended, it was Getafe CF who showed more tactics and fluidity in their game and who knew how to play being on the lead.

UD Almería, during the first half hour of this second period, did not trouble the host goalie, but from then on, by putting their heart and soul into the game, the players began to display quick transitions towards the final third to look for the long-awaited tie, but Getafe CF were very solid at the back and blocked all threats on home turf.
