Garitano: "I'm not going to let them give up"
The UD Almería head coach unpacked his post-game thoughts: 'The team have competed well throughout the full 90 minutes, have plucked up the courage and haven't given up,' although he highlighted: 'For one reason or another, we didn't achieve victory.'
Gaizka Garitano spoke to the media in the Coliseum press room after his team suffered a new defeat that prevents the Rojiblancos from achieving the long-awaited victory. Regarding the match, the UD Almería head coach highlighted: 'We've competed well throughout the full 90 minutes, we've conceded two great goals, although the second was avoidable, but the team has plucked up the courage, haven't given up and we've been able to double out lead 0-2, but for one reason or another, we aren't able to win.'
Regarding the emotional state of the UD Almería footballers, the gaffer assures: 'The players are convinced, we're competing well, although we lack efficiency at the back and up front, our two centre-forwards are injured and it's more difficult,' but he stressed: 'We aren't going to lay down our arms and as long as I'm there, emotionally, we'll be one hundred percent.'
After the game, several players were on the verge of tears and in response to this, Gaizka Garitano added: 'It bothers them to lose and it hurts them, I prefer to see people cry than not care, we're competing well.'
Finally, the Basque Country native sent a message to the UD Almería fans: 'Thank you to the fans, we have them supporting us in very difficult times, we're going to continue working to the death for them.'
