1-4: Things just did not work out as planned for Almeria Academy products

The homegrown players suffer from Atletico Porcuna’s scoring efficiency. The Rojiblancos did not manage to get into the game

The UD Almería ‘B’ team played one of their worst games of the season and ended up paying dearly for it suffering a tough defeat. Atlético Porcuna CF put on a stylish display at the Anexo pitch to beat 1-4 the youthful Rojiblancos. The game was marked by the Jaen-based rewarding counter-attacks and their scoring effectiveness.

Who would have thought that after the first minutes, the adversaries would end up thrashing the hosts? Almeria got off to a perfect kick-off dominating the possession of the ball and missed good opportunities to score with a mighty strike from the edge of the box by Dani Albiar, deflected and snuffed out for a corner.

Then the visitors found the opener (0-1). Gerard beat goalie Lluís Tarrés within 20 minutes at the end of a counter-attack. Atlético Porcuna stole the ball like pros and their passing accuracy helped them to double their lead halfway through after a successful play (2-0).

Almería ‘B’ did their very best to react after the restart. Fernando Santos, ‘Nandinho’, made a double substitution in which Sergio Sanchís and Nacho Díaz were called into action coming on for Cerpa and Contreras. In this way, the second team piled up more lads in the offensive third.

The Almeria homegrown players sought to get into the game and did so with a goal from Aitor Puñal in the 51st minute. The centre-back slammed in his third goal of the season by finishing after a wonderful cross from Raul Caballero inside the opposition box.

It was not Almeria’s day! Although the 1-2 on the scoreboard gave some hope, Luisito fired in the third to make it 1-3 after taking advantage of a new counter-attack in which the home defenders were not at their best.

In low spirits, Almería ‘B’ launched offensive actions putting their hearts and their souls into it, while Atlético de Porcuna continued to find spaces gaining momentum. It was clear that the visiting side could not get enough and in the final stretch Rafa Castillo scored the fourth setting up a frantic finale. Just before that, a driven effort was palmed away from danger by Lluís Tarrés.
