1-1: UD Almería share the spoils with Córdoba CF to extend unbeaten run to 5
The Rojiblancos hold firm in a hard-fought one-all draw with the resilient Blanquiverdes. Arnau Puigmal opened the scoring
UD Almería were held to a 1-1 draw against Córdoba CF in a gritty encounter that saw both Andalusian sides create plenty of chances in a match full of end-to-end activity. Despite a valiant effort from the hosts, Rubi’s men remain unbeaten, maintaining their position at the top of the table.
The match kicked off with intensity as both teams pushed forward, each looking to assert dominance. UD Almería took the lead in the 25th minute thanks to a well-taken strike from Arnau Puigmal, following a perfectly delivered cross from team-mate Arribas. However, Córdoba CF responded before the break, equalising from the penalty spot after a foul on Fuentes inside the box, with Jacobo converting the spot-kick (1-1).
Rubi made four changes to his starting XI, including two forced substitutions due to the absence of Nelson Monte and Alex Muñoz. Chumi and Centelles replaced them in defence, while Lopy partnered Baba in midfield. Puigmal was moved to the right flank, with Embarba switching to the left. Despite an early dominance in possession from Córdoba CF, UD Almería’s resilience at the back kept them in the game.
After the Blanquiverdes’ equaliser, both sides created numerous opportunities, especially in the second half. Léo Baptistão wasted a great chance in the 51st minute, while UDA goalie Andrés Fernández was in top form, saving powerful shots booted by Adrián Fuentes (56’) and Theo Zidane (68’).
The match unfolded in a truly chaotic, end-to-end fashion, reminiscent of UD Almería’s recent encounter in La Coruña. In stoppage time, Perović and Dzodic both had clear chances to snatch a winner for UD Almería, but Córdoba CF’s defence held firm.
Ultimately, a 1-1 draw was a fair result in a hard-fought battle, leaving the Rojiblancos in a strong position as they continue their push for promotion to the top flight.
