0-3: UD Almería cannot build on first win of season at the Power Horse Stadium
The Rojiblancos failed to develop their game plan against a solid CA Osasuna, who scored 2 goals within 8 minutes. The second was controversial. The clinical opponents grabbed the three points on a rainy and windy day in Almería
UD Almería did not manage to build on the first win of the season in Las Palmas and ran into a solid CA Osasuna, who were winning 0-2 within 8 minutes. This setback made the match very difficult for UD Almería. In the second half, when the UD Almería players were at their best, the visitors slotted home the third to seal a comprehensive victory.
UD Almería's starting XI presented several fresh faces compared to the last match on the Spanish island. On the defensive line, Edgar regained his starting spot, while Arribas would take Embarba's place. On the attacking front, with the aim of strengthening their attacking options, Marco Marezi was named in the team roster replacing Baptistão.
UD Almería were slow out of the traps from the off while CA Osasuna took the lead in no time with an opener from José Arnaiz, the striker took advantage of a defensive error and put his team ahead. The game had not reached the 10th minute and the Rojiblancos were going to receive the second blow. An ineffective delivery by Radovanović, who was heading for a corner-kick, was beautifully saved by Maximiano, but with such bad luck that the rebound fell to Moncayola who quickly put it on a plate for Budimir so that he, with an empty goal, doubled their advantage 0- 2.
Everything went downhill on a rainy and grey afternoon in Almería. Radovanović would also have to leave the pitch on a stretcher due to injury. Of course everything, absolutely everything, started very badly for the Indálicos and the encounter became very tough. Due to this setback, Marcos Peña enterered the field, and thus making his UD Almería debut at home. Edgar operated as a centre-back alongside César Montes.
UD Almería tried their hardest to gain momentum and look for the visitors' goal before the end of the first half, but CA Osasuna blocked the few attempts made by Pepe Mel's side with great defensive ability.
The second half was going to begin with a double change in the ranks of UD Almería. Embarba and Baptistão came on replacing Arribas and Marezi. With this double substitution, the Rojiblancos began to create danger towards Sergio Herrera's goal and the first to try his luck was Ramazani, who was about to pull one back in a bid to make it 1-2, however, a miraculous foot from the visiting goalkeeper prevented it.
UD Almería team kept trying, however, Osasuna's third would come in the 61st minute. Iker Muñoz, with an explosive right-foot strike from inside the area beat Maximiano, who although he managed to touch the ball, was not enough to deny him.
Despite UD Almería's intensity and a determination to win possession of the ball as close to the opposition goal as possible, the Rojillo team was not going to allow the hosts to get closer on the scoreboard, and thus putting the game to bed with a final result of 0-3 in an afternoon that in spite of the rain and wind, brought together more than 10,000 fans in the stands.
