0-1: Rojas picks up injury as UD Almería 'B' suffer a defeat

The 20-year-old right winger was taken the hospital after with an injury to his right knee. The team did not have the same luck of other days.

It was not a good day at the office for UD Almería 'B' on Matchday 18. The UDA Academy Rojiblancos did not have luck this time as they lacked the ability from previous matches and they could not equalise Huétor Vega's opener, which, together with other results, takes them out of the play-off positions. Rojas' injury was the highlight of the game as he picked up an injury to his right knee. The footballer had to be taken on a stretcher to the dressing room in pain and later he was taken by ambulance to the Clínica Mediterráneo to undergo diagnostic tests.

UD Almería 'B' went into the game on the back of three back-to-back victories, the last two through impressive comebacks. Huétor Vega were visiting, adversaries from the lower mid-table side. UD Almería 'B', with Martin Svidersky, Gui Guedes and Marezi in the Starting XI, began commanding, taking the initiative with fluid passing, although they did not create much danger because they failed to hit the target. Little by little, the rivals gained momentum and the match became highly competitive. But while the Almerienses continued without shooting between the three sticks, the Granada-based outfit took advantage of one of their approaches to the hosts' area to open the scoring (0-1). It was minute 34 and David Hurtado scored a low driven shot from the edge of the box.

Both in the final stretch of the first half and throughout the second period, UD Almería 'B' tried to level things up by having more possession, but they were not creative enough in the final third. In fact, they fashioned no chances. Not even Oscar Fernández's changes were useful for the reaction. This was also influenced by the attitude of fearsome Huétor Vega who were well organised and did not leave spaces.

In the second half, the continuous fouls prevented continuity in the youthful Rojiblancos' game plan. In the 80th minute, Rojas had to be subbed. A few minutes before, he had received a blow to his knee, but he played through the pain until he fell to the ground showing signs of pain. The player had to be carried on a stretcher to the changing rooms and later to the Clinica Mediterraneo to undergo diagnostic tests.
