0-0: UD Almería U19 'A' get well-earned away point against Sevilla FC U19
The UDA Academy products' 13th-game winning streak comes to an end, but the lads continue to score points, remain table-toppers and leave direct rivals 7 points behind
UD Almería U19 'A' bagged a well-earned point at the Sevilla FC Sports Complex in a match marked by the needs that the Sevillian team had, since they needed victory to remain in the fight to top the table. This was noticeable on the pitch from the off and it was the hosts who created most of the chances blocked by keeper Bruno Iribarne, who was on song.
The game kicked off with plenty of end-to-end activity in the initial minutes, although it is true that the home team whipped in most of the chances since they needed all three points to remain confidently in the race to top the table. As a result, they spurned a big chance in the 17th minute with a shot from Jose Antonio from inside the small area, but his fine attempt was denied by Bruno's first great save.
Sevilla FC under-19s also came out onto the pitch playing vertical football and in the 50th minute, they wasted another great scoring opportunity. This time it was Raúl who sent the shot over the goal. From there, Alberto Lasarte's boys opted for playing a game in which the wear and tear was as little as possible, since in just three days, they will be facing the Deportivo Alavés graduates in the Spanish Cup U19s last-16. They succeeded at a certain extent since, although they did not have many opportunities to score, they managed to keep the boys from Sevilla FC at bay during the full 90 minutes. Something that was really difficult due to the rivals' insistence and their chances.
With 81 minutes on the clock, the hosts also fashioned a great chance that the Rojiblancos' defence ended up clearing. When the match was heading towards the end, the team from Seville squandered a great opportunity in stoppage time to have won the victory with a shot from the edge of the area that hit the woodwork. However, a plane took off just at that moment, from the Bruno Iribarne airline, who dived in to avert danger.
Nothing to separate the sides after the final whistle. Alberto Lasarte's youth side drew 1-1 with the Sevillians and left a hard-fought game behind so as to turn their attention to the upcoming Copa del Rey Juvenil tie.
