Spain U21 to play against Switzerland U21 at Power Horse Stadium on 24 March

UD Almería reach an agreement with the Spanish Football Federation to host the friendly match as the two youth sides will be gearing up for the UEFA European U21 Championship.

Spain U21 will return to Almería city seven years later in order to play a friendly match. The Spain youth team with Santi Denia in the driving seat takes on Switzerland U21 at the Power Horse Stadium on Friday, 24 March. A meeting that can take place thanks to UD Almería working towards the agreement with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Andalusian Football Federation (RFAF) in collaboration with Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council of Almería and the Almería City Council. 
It will be a special match for Castilla la Mancha native coach Santi Denia, who takes over from current national coach Luis de la Fuente, since he makes his debut in this match at the helm of Spain U21. 


The friendly against Switzerland U21 will serve as preparation for the UEFA European U21 Championship, which will be held in Georgia and Romania in the coming months of June and July. From all the institutions involved, the burning enthusiasm with which UD Almería welcome this match stands out, on the second time that Spain U21 will play at this Stadium and on the fourth time that they visit the city of Almeria .


The last game played by the Spanish youth side ended up with a resounding 5-0 victory over Georgia in November 2015 with goals from Deulofeu (3), Williams and Ceballos in a qualifying match for the 2017 European U21 Championship. More than 7,000 spectators got a kick out of the wonderful performance displayed by the budding footballers at the then Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.
