Rubi: ‘We’ve built a fort at home with our fans’

The UD Almeria gaffer shared his post-match thoughts as he derived deep satisfaction from his team’s brilliant performance, strength on home turf and 22 points collected at the end of the first half of the season.

After the wonderful game played by UD Almería against RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, Rubi sat down with the media at the Power Horse Stadium press room and positively valued all the stages of the match and the brilliant performance put in by his team. He made it clear ‘we controlled the game except, maybe, the opening 10 minutes.’ He highlighted: ’the players’ fascinating, productive attacking display’ since, as he argued: ‘I saw our fourth goal closer than the first one. We also won several more games scoring three goals.’

The UD Almeria head coach made up to five changes to the starting XI. On this subject, he explained ‘we’ve got a highly competitive squad. We made those substitutions because we needed to freshen things up after playing away to Valencia CF last Monday.’ For the UD Almería first-team gaffer ‘the players are going to have to fight hard to earn a spot in the starting XI .’

The Rojiblancos' gaffer stressed ‘We’ve built a fort at home with our fans’ and added ‘we’re really happy to be the third team with the best home form, although Matchday 19 isn't over yet.’ UD Almería have reached the halfway point of the league with 22 points, ‘which makes me perfectly happy. Now it's time to enjoy it, but this shouldn’t be an excuse to relax, quite the opposite, because the reverse fixtures are around the corner. I'm already thinking of the next match against Rayo Vallecano.’
