Akieme: 'If we played some rivals from the beginning again we'd get something better'

The UD Almería left-back has admitted that over these months 'we corrected the mistakes that had cost us dearly away from home'

UD Almería left-back Sergio Akieme looked ahead to the international friendly match against Serie A side SS Lazio, assuring 'we're going to show against the Italian team that we've been putting in the graft during this mid-season break, that we've reinforced tactical concepts and that we're going to come back really strong when the league restarts.'

For Akieme it is a 'real motivation and a great challenge' to face one of the greatest teams of Italian calcio.

The Rojiblanco left wing-back admitted that his 'squad was doing well when the break started, but we could've been even better.' Akieme, is fully aware that this winter break has served them to 'analyse and correct the mistakes made in those days of the league.'

Moreover, regarding the forthcoming LaLiga Santander resumption, the 25-year-old footballer commented 'it's obvious that the team dynamics are going to change, and there may be surprises with some teams.'

The Madrid-born player, who has also spoken about Cádiz CF, has argued 'if we win, we'll get a good cushion of points from direct rivals, in addition to ending the losing streak away from home. This would allow us to start the year a bit more relaxed.'

The UD Almería player knows that the key to scoring on their outings is to 'play like we play at home, with the same confidence and attacking game as in the Power Horse Stadium.'

The Parleño has confirmed that his objectives are 'to keep ourselves as far away from relegation as possible, score on the trips and keep up the good performance on home turf.'
