1-2: UD Las Palmas' last-gasp winner comes as a cruel blow to UD Almería
Despite the Rojiblancos grabbed the leveller courtesy of Ramazani, the islanders broke the deadlock in stoppage time to take all 3 points back to the Canary Islands
Another cruel blow came at the Power Horse Stadium as UD Almería are still riding on a winless run this season in LaLiga EA Sports. The Canary Islands team took the lead in the first half, thanks to Munir's opener, and managed to hold on until the end of the first forty-five minutes in front. However, in the second half, the Rojiblancos reacted and grabbed the leveller thanks to a solo goal from Ramazani. That goal gave the hosts hope, who fought to the death looking for another goal to clinch the first victory that is escaping them this campaign. In the 90'+4 minute, a loose ball within the box was taken by opponent Sorry Kaba to break the deadlock and take all three points back to Canary Islands.
As for the starting XI, Mr Garitano made some changes to the squad who took on Girona FC in the last fixture. The Basque Country native placed Fernando in goal, Centelles, Chumi (one of the new faces), César and Pozo defending; Lopy and Baba operating as a double pivot to protect the midfield while Robertone was handed out a spot a little higher up; Attacking duties were assumed by Embarba, Lázaro (another new player in the team roster) and Léo Baptistão.
The match kicked off just as the Indálicos' gaffer had already planned before the vital game. The Canarian outfit took control of the ball and enjoyed more possession, while the Rojiblancos held on well as a defensive block and quickly looked for their men in attack. The plan of this meeting seemed very clear.
The guests gained momentum and became stronger by firing warning shots and as a result of this growth in action, the opening goal would come netted by UD Las Palmas, Munir beat Fernando Martínez after well-crafted assist. The Rojiblancos tried their best at all times throughout the opening half, yet the result remained unchanged until the break (0-1).
Then, in the second half, UD Almería reacted and went out onto the field with much clearer ideas. They were looking for through-ball passes into the area at the right moment or creating overloads to spread the ball wide and deliver crosses into the box. As a result of that good team-work and organisation, the well-deserved draw came courtesy of Ramazani, who was brilliant enough to score a solo goal after dribbling the ball past his opponents towards the goal (1-1).
UD Almería thought that they were meant to settle for a point against the islanders at the Power Horse Stadium, however, the worst nightmare was about to be experienced. The hosts created some chances and could have had that sense of déjà vu; in the past 2013/14 campaign, the Rojiblancos experienced a similar situation since during the first 10 Matchdays, they had not won a single league game, but achieved a long-awaited victory on Matchday 11 in Valencia. It could not be in the end and in the 90'+4 minute, Las Palmas luckily broke the deadlock to take 3 points back to the island, leaving the Indálicos devastated on the pitch.
