1-1: UD Almería find their rhythm in LaLiga Hypermotion
The Rojiblancos battle to valuable draw against league leaders RC Deportivo de La Coruña
UD Almería continued to build momentum in LaLiga Hypermotion, following up back-to-back victories over Sporting Gijón and UD Las Palmas with a hard-fought draw against league leaders RC Deportivo de La Coruña. A first-half goal from Bonini gave the Rojiblancos the lead, but Deportivo fought back in the second half, with Yeremay’s stunning equaliser ensuring the match ended 1-1.
Head coach Rubi made 3 changes to the lineup that triumphed over UD Las Palmas, two of them tactical and one forced by Embarba's suspension. Arnau Puigmal replaced Embarba on the right wing to add both verticality and defensive cover against Deportivo's attacking threats, particularly Yeremay and Quagliata. Léo Baptistão started as the No.9, replacing Soko, while André Horta made his debut in midfield alongside Dzodic, with the latter tasked with more defensive duties.
The match kicked off with both sides displaying quality and intensity, as UD Almería aimed to be the first team to break Deportivo’s unbeaten record. In a competitive first half, the Rojiblancos created several chances, while maintaining solid defensive organization. In the 22nd minute, Baptistão provided a well-timed pass to Nico Melamed, whose shot was blocked for a corner. A few minutes later, Bonini headed in from a set-piece to give Almería the lead at 0-1. Despite another promising opportunity in the 29th minute, where Arribas' effort was saved by Deportivo's goalkeeper, Germán Parreño, the Rojiblancos went into the break with a deserved advantage.
The second half saw a change in momentum, as Deportivo ramped up their pressure. The home side created several chances, including a shot from Mulattieri in the 49th minute and a dangerous attempt from Ximo Navarro in the 56th. In the 61st minute, Yeremay showcased his individual brilliance, weaving past Chirino to score a stunning equaliser from the edge of the area.
Rubi responded by making 2 more substitutions: Soko replaced Baptistão and Marcos Luna came on for Arnau Puigmal. With a more defensive set-up, the Rojiblancos managed to stifle Deportivo’s attacking flow, regaining control of the match and finishing strong. Further changes, including the introduction of Gui Guedes and Baba for Horta and Dzodic, helped the team settle into midfield and push forward in the final stages.
In the end, UD Almería’s resilience earned them a well-deserved draw against the league leaders, securing a vital point at the Abanca-Riazor stadium as they continue to find their rhythm in LaLiga Hypermotion.
