1-0: UD Almería narrowly beaten by Deportivo Alavés
The Rojiblancos lacked the cutting edge and conceded El Glorioso's winning goal in the 79th minute. The Indálicos showed a new defensive solidity despite the defeat
Twelve-game winless streak for UD Almería this season in LaLiga EA Sports after being narrowly defeated by Deportivo Alavés on their visit to the Mendizorroza stadium on Matchday 12. The Rojiblancos lacked the cutting edge and were dominated by El Glorioso practically throughout the entire game. Although they were somewhat better defending, they ran out of ideas when attacking and without creating big chances. The home side went all out for the goal with great intensity until in the 79th minute, Sedlar grabbed the winning goal for the Basque Country-based team.
As for the Starting XI, Gaizka Garitano introduced new faces regarding the last Copa del Rey tie against CF Talavera de la Reina and also the last LaLiga EA Sports fixture hosting UD Las Palmas. Maximiano regained his spot between the sticks, Akieme after his injury and Edgar returned to the line-up and the addition of Mendes as a starter on that right wing stood out, Chumi completed the defence; the midfield was occupied by Lopy, Arnau Puigmal, Ramazani and Robertone and Melero and Baptistão teamed up up front.
The first half was dominated by the hosts with a lot of touch in the box and a lot of shots. Crosses booted by Rioja, who was one of the most outstanding attackers of the first half. The Rojiblancos showed a new defensive solidity to block all the opportunities that Deportivo Alavés whipped in with Maximiano looking very confident in goal, but the keeper was short of ideas in the offensive zone.
Shortly before the end of the first period, the referee awarded El Glorioso a penalty that was indicated to him from the VAR committed by Chumi, yet Hagi kicked it over the goal, and thus leaving the score as it was, 0-0. It was all square at half-time.
In the second half, the Indálicos came out better in attack, creating plays and effective teamwork, however, this did not last long and Alavés once again took control of the match. The guests continued to defend deep until, in the 79th minute, a messy play within the UD Almería box ended with Sedlar's winning goal to open the scoring. UD Almería kept trying their hardest, but without pinpoint accuracy, so they were edged out by the Alavesistas (1-0).
