UD Almería Women get weekend off with promotion hopes wrecked

The girls are playing their last game of the 2021/22 season on Sunday, 24th April following break for Easter

UD Almería Women will not have to compete this weekend as there is an Easter break in their competition. Later, the girls from UD Almería will have to face the last Matchday that closes out the campaign in Group IV of the Primera Nacional women's division in Spain and they will do so with nothing at stake as they do not have any more options to reach promotion and after ensuring a fourth spot in the table. Despite not being able to move up a rank unluckily, their campaign played has been historic indeed, since they had never collected so many points in this difficult tier.
The prime goal with which the girls squad kicked off the season was to stay up and this was achieved shortly after the start of the second half of the competition. In this way, the role of UD Almería Women has been outstanding after beating other teams that started as favourites to top the table and, in addition, with UD Almería Women having fought until the last day with the clubs that will finally compete in the new tier created by the RFEF above the Primera Nacional and below Liga Reto
As a result of this pause in the league, head coach Álvaro García Búrdalo granted the entire Holy Week free to the players. It will be next Monday when training resumes in the last week of competition for the players who have been fighting tooth and nail wearing the the red and white jersey in a historic 2021/22 campaign for them.
