UD Almería strengthen attacking options with Brazilian Léo Baptistão

The striker, who has featured in more than 200 games for At. Madrid, Real Betis, Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol, signs 4-season deal

UD Almería were looking to boost the team's attack ahead of the imminent 2022/23 season in the top flight of Spanish football...., Léo Baptistão, a 29-year-old Brazilian striker, becomes the second signing with wide experience in the top tier. After the addition of young talents such as Kaiky, Milovanović, Guedes, Svidersky, the Club is now focusing on acquiring experienced players.

Goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco signed for UD Almería last Wednesday until 2026 and now Baptistão follows suit, who despite being 29 years old, has played more than 300 games as a professional footballer; most of them played in the Spanish first division with Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol, a Club in which he coincided with head coach Rubi. In addition, the Brazilian has played the Champions League and the Europa League. Now he moves to UD Almería from Brazilian top-tier Série A side Santos FC.

Léo Baptistão is a versatile player who can operate in different attacking positions: second striker, centre-forward and right-winger. He is a skilful player with good finishing who moves perfectly when looking for half spaces and will also bring a wealth of experience, something vital for UD Almería in their long-awaited return to the Primera Division.

The footballer has arrived this Thursday in Almeria city and has signed his 4-season contract until 2026. He is expected to take in the new threads in training this Friday.
