UD Almería need one win to seal promotion to the top flight

It promises to be an exciting and nervy end to the campaign with two Mathdays to go before LaLiga SmartBank regular season concludes. UD Almería are one win away from sealing promotion to the top flight, a goal that the Rojiblancos are very eager to achieve next Saturday in order to cap off their last home game of the season (KO 9pm). They will face the bottom team and already relegated AD Alcorcón with Almeria-born Fran Fernández in the driving seat. 

After Friday’s vital victory at the Reale Arena, UD Almería had options to virtually move up a rank this Saturday, but their objective has been delayed following the triumphs of promotion-chasers SD Éibar and Real Valladolid CF. The Rojiblancos in pole position are 4 points ahead of the Pucelanos and 2 over the Basque Country side. Rubi's team just need one more win to earn promotion to the Spanish top tier, although there are more alternatives such as two draws, as long as SD Éibar do not reach the 81 points that UD Almería would have in this case and also Real Valladolid CF happen to win their two matches.

Different permutations in which the Rojiblancos would like to ignore as their only objective right now is to focus fully on the preparations for the visit of AD Alcorcón and collect the three points that would fire them straight away to the Primera Division in front of their devoted fans, which would be much more spectacular yet.

Matchday 41, penultimate of the second tier, comes with simultaneous kick-offs at 9pm (Spain Time), on Saturday, 21st May; SD Éibar host CD Tenerife, who are fighting to their strengths in a bid to remain in the promotion play-offs picture as they are right in the thick of the promotion race, while Real Valladolid CF visit UD Ibiza, who already know that will stay up. UD Almería are determined to go into the last fixture against CD Leganés, as a Primera Division team and close out a 2021/22 season to be immensely proud of.
