UD Almeria ‘B’ looking to rank among the greatest before play-offs

The UDA Academy prospects are visiting Juventud de Torremolinos CF, group champs and already promoted, at midday this Sunday

UD Almería ‘B’, virtually assured of promotion to participate in the play-offs for promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF, are visiting Juventud de Torremolinos CF at midday this Sunday. The hosts are already group champs and therefore, have virtually achieved promotion. The UDA Academy prospects will go into the game with the firm intention of clinching a victory in a bid to rank among the greatest in order to have a small advantage in the decisive phase.

Currently, the youthful Rojiblancos are runners-up in the championship so they need a victory and that Huétor Tájar lose their match. It is worth highlighting that the play-offs, which will be played as a single-legged tie, gives privilege to the best ranked teams in the regular season by making them qualify after a hypothetical tie after extra time. Hence, the Academy youth team have set themselves the goal of closing out the regular season with all three points.

Juventud de Torremolinos CF have been in their best form over the course of the campaign, which has allowed them to climb positions on the fast track. In addition, they have always shown themselves to be powerful and resilient rivals to beat at El Pozuelo ground, which makes it essential that the Rojiblancos have to stay focused and attentive to all the details if they want to obtain a positive result.

Looking ahead to the play-offs, the first round will pair the second -UD Almería ‘B’- with the fifth in Group IX, as well as the third with the fourth-placed outfit. This mini-league will be played in Estepona, like the second knockout stage in which the winners of the previous one would face each other. Later it would be necessary to overcome a third tie against a team, the one determined by the draw, of those who overcome the second tie of their own group.

Head coach Óscar Fernández will not announce the squad list in advance. It will be at the time of presenting the team pass cards to the match official when the name of the footballers who are part of the team roster will be known.
