UD Almeria ‘B’ and Under-19s ‘A’ return to training on Tuesday, 26 July

The rest of the UDA Academy sides will get back to the grounds at the beginning of August. The squads rebuild is underway

UD Almería ‘B’ will be resuming training on Tuesday, 26 July with head coach Óscar Fernández conducting the first summer training session at the Vega de Acá field. Over the course of the previous weeks all the footballers will take their medicals.

The UDA Academy staff is currently working on the retained/release UD Almería ‘B’ list. There are many players who will remain in the Club while there are several UD Almeria U19s ‘A’ players of last campaign that they are have already turned 19  and therefore, they will begin the pre-season. On the other hand, Fermín will not be part of the team after his contract expires, while Raúl Caballero will not continue in the youth squad either. The Club would like to thank both for their full commitment and the great work they have done during their time as Rojiblancos and wish them the best of luck in their future footballing careers.

The UD Almeria ‘B’ lads will compete in the Tercera Division RFEF given the fact that a single goal prevented them from earning promotion. The forecasts predict that the fifth tier of Spanish football will be highly competitive, so it will be necessary to fight hard to achieve the objectives. Group IX will be formed, aside from the youthful Rojiblancos, by Torreperogil, Huétor Vega, Huétor Tájar, Málaga City, Marbella, El Palo, Motril, Atlético Malagueño, Estepona, Arenas de Armilla, Torre del Mar, Huracán Melilla, Torredonjimeno, Atlético de Porcuna and Real Jaén.

The Andalusian Football Federation confirmed that the competition will have its opening day on the weekend of 11 September. Likewise, the competition format maintains the fact that the table-toppers in the regular season will win automatic promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF, while the play-offs will be changed by creating three knockout rounds; the first and second two-legged rounds will be contested between teams belonging to the same group (from the second to the fifth placed). In the third round -also with two games- there will be a draw between the qualified of all the groups.

On another note, UD Almeria U19s ‘A’ also returns to the office on Tuesday, 26 July  in order to be able to prepare themselves in the best possible way for the start of the 2022/23 Division Honor Juvenil league, the highest Under-19s tier in Spain. Meanwhile, the Academy is working to rebuild the squad before 3 September, which will be on the opening day of the championship. It must be taken into account that there are now many 19-year-old footballers so several members of UD Almeria U19s ‘B’ from last season who ended up champions of the Liga Nacional League will move up a rank.

As for the rest of the UD Almería youth academy sides, it will be from the first week of August when the Under-19s ‘B’, Under-16s, Under-14s and Under-12s homegrown players carry out their respective training sessions.
