UD Almería announce half of friendlies added to pre-season schedule

Tests that will gradually get tougher to get match sharpness. Vélez Málaga, Córdoba CF, San Fernando and Granada CF have been confirmed

Preparations for the 2022/23 season are well underway as UD Almería have already arranged half of their friendly matches for this summer’s pre-season with Vélez Málaga, Córdoba CF, San Fernando and Granada CF as the first opponents of Rubi’s side. The Rojiblancos begin training on the pitch on Sunday, 10 July and in these first two weeks of preparation, they will have four tests that will gradually get tougher.

The first of the matches will be played against Vélez Málaga, an Andalusian outfit from the fourth-tier Segunda Division RFEF, on Sunday, 17 July (KO 7:30pm Spain Time). It is still to be determined whether the Anexo training ground can host the game or not, depending on the state of its grass nearer the time. It will be the opening friendly after 7 days of training sessions that will help the Rojiblancos get that match sharpness back. Later, three other meetings have been arranged for the moment to be played over the team’s pre-season camp in Jerez de la Frontera; a double-header against two third-tier Primera Division RFEF teams: Córdoba CF will be the opposition on Saturday, 23 July (KO 8pm CEST) and the next day (Sunday, 24 July) UD Almeria will face San Fernando (KO 7:30pm Spain Time).

The first friendly stern test for the Indalicos will see them taking on newly relegated Granada CF on Saturday, 30 July (kick-off 7pm CEST), a team that competed in the Spanish top-tier LaLiga Santander last season.

With these four pre-season friendlies, half of the matches that UD Almería are planning to play have now been confirmed as they seek the best preparation possible for the next term in LaLiga Santander.
