UD Almeria 8 points clear of third-placed team

There is a 6-point gap between current second tier leaders UD Almería and second-placed SD Eibar

UD Almería remain LaLiga SmartBank leaders even though the gap has been reduced at the top of the table. After Matchday 17, the Rojiblancos were 8 points over second-placed SD Eibar and 10 above third-placed CD Tenerife, but now, once Matchday 18 is over, UD Almeria are 6 and  8 points above those sides, respectively. You should know that the two clubs getting into the top two will earn automatic promotion to the top flight in Spain...so UD Almeria are in a position that any team could wish for really

Last Monday, the Armeros (SD Eibar) stunned Girona FC 4-2 at home while on Sunday evening,third-placed CD Tenerife beat Real Sociedad ‘B’ 2-0 on the island.

Further down, SD Ponferradina sit fourth 9 points behind UD Almería; fifth-placed Real Valladolid CF are 10 points adrift of the table-toppers and UD Las Palmas are 14 points behind in the sixth spot. Meanwhile, the Rojiblancos are 15 points above the first promotion-hunting team outside the play-off positions, Malaga CF (26 points).
