The Andalusian Government and UD Almería set up integration project

The Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation together with the UDA Foundation will run this local initiative

Junta de Andalucía (Government of Andalusia) and UD Almería have set up a worthwhile integration project that aims to promote social integration and give children from unaccompanied minors reception centres in Almería as well as elderly people from El Zapillo nursing home the great opportunity to attend Laliga SmartBank games played by UD Almeria at the Mediterraneo. This exciting initiative will be carried out by the Regional Government's Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation along with the UD Almeria Foundation.

Minister of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation Rocío Ruiz Domínguez, who referred to this plan as ‘an example of inclusion’ after having increased to four the number of teams for people with disabilities,  highlighted ‘For minors, attending a game is recovering what they’ve never had,’ which is why she pointed out: ‘We’re going to take children from Child Protection Centres across Almería to football games thanks to this agreement. Thanks to UD Almería on behalf of the children.’ Meanwhile, she focused on another of the key points of this community project and in which the elderly people from El Zapillo nursing home will have the opportunity ‘to enjoy that beautiful day to see their team at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.’

For her part, UDA Foundation President Lorena García, explained that for the Club ‘it’s an honour to be able to participate in the projects proposed by the Andalusian Government in matters of equality,’ which raise awareness within the Rojiblancos Club of ‘the responsibility as a representative team of this city.’ In addition, she added: ‘It’s a pleasure that our UD Almeria men's and women's teams can promote equality and inclusion.’

During the significant event, the UDA Foundation handed over several official LaLiga footballs to the Minister of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation of Junta de Andalucía. These will be left in Child Protection Centres in Almería. It should be highlighted that the presentation was attended by Andalusian Government Delegate in Almería Maribel Sánchez Torregosa; Director General for Children Antonia Rubio González; Regional Delegate of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation Rafael Pasamontes Romera and Head of Institute for Women’s Affairs provincial centre María Montagut Gómez.
