‘Sometimes fear beats you, but I felt fine and self-confident’

Miguel Guirao reappears with the second team eleven months after his serious injury.

‘Where there is a will, there is a way. Always work and do your best. Good things will come your way. Good things came my way eleven months later though. In football everything changes quick. Never feel disillusioned’. This was the message that Miguel Guirao wanted to send on UDA Radio to all players who are coping with the stress of an injury such as the anterior cruciate ligament rupture, which is a common knee injury. He got injured back in December 2018.

It was before the last game of UD Almeria B when Fernando Santos, ‘Nandinho’, told him that he was called up for the game against Atlético Porcuna; Guirao still remember how he felt once he learnt it: ‘Nervousness, after so long, comes the day before. At noon I had no appetite because it was an important game and I was out of action for a long time while looking forward to this day. He looked happy at the official radio station of the club.

Miguel Guirao has had this serious injury three times and he is only 23 years old. The recovery is slow and it has been necessary ‘a lot of psychological support’ to be fully recovered. ‘Sometimes fear beats you, but I felt fine and self-confident. In addition, the coach and my teammates gave me a lot of confidence’, commented the player.
