Rubi: ‘We’re leaving with a painful defeat’

The head coach recognises that the sending-off changed the meeting’s development and is happy about the work of his players despite being down to 10 men

‘We haven’t been able to defend the last play well and we’re leaving with a painful defeat,’ stressed UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia, at the post-Amorebieta presser. Meanwhile, he congratulated the adversaries on achieving their first LaLiga SmartBank victory, adding that the Basque country players ‘won the game fairly.’

The Catalan gaffer pointed out in his post-game analysis that everything had started in a positive way for UD Almeria to the point that a ‘a dangerous’ team was being taken on. It was then that, in his opinion, Robertone’s red card made everything difficult. ‘The sending-off changed the game’s development a bit,’ explained the Indálicos head coach, but making it clear that he felt ‘happy with the work of his footballers’ for knowing how to compete with 10 men for so long.

Moreover, the squad Rojiblancos are working hard day by day ‘to be a better team every day", so in the words of Rubi, they will have to correct aspects to regain the three points in the coming weekend. He emphasised before the end of the press conference that they do not think about being candidates for promotion, but about taking each game as it comes, ‘No matter how much they tell us, we know that we have to 'work our fingers to the bone in the second tier’ and ‘there’s a long way to go, concluded the head coach.
