Rubi: ‘We’re going to extend this winning streak for as long as we can’

The head coach highlights that UD Almería ‘had to put in a brave fight’ to clinch 6 victories on the bounce and acknowledges that UD Ibiza made things difficult

‘We’re going to extend this streak as much as we can,’ exclaimed UD Almeria head coach Rubi at the post-Ibiza presser after the Rojiblancos achieved their sixth victory on the bounce. Rubi stressed that the Indalicos had to ‘put in a brave fight’ to be able to equal team historical records.

Regarding the competitive away game on the island, the Catalan gaffer admitted that the Ibiza team made things really difficult, especially in the final minutes. On this subject, he pointed out: ‘We’ve been dominating and stealing the ball close to the area, advancing over the course of the first half. Then, the penalty came and in my view, the player had his arm outstretched. In the second half, we didn’t start badly, but they’ve gained ground and they’ve taken crosses that have made us sit back.’

All in all, the satisfaction in the UD Almeria dressing room is tremendous following this positive streak, which is why Rubi explained: ‘Things can go wrong at any time and these points that we have now make us have peace of mind.’
