Rubi: ‘We want to see a very brave UD Almería in Gijón’

The head coach highlights that his team will face the game feeling very motivated, but clarifies ‘we’re visiting a great team and it’ll be a very complicated match’

The LaLiga SmartBank continues and after the UD Almeria vs CD Leganés match, the Rojiblancos have already begun preparations  for Tuesday's fixture in Gijón, where they will arrive ‘with high morale and feeling very excited about playing a match in one of the best stadiums in Spain,’ as UD Almeria head coach Rubi commented.

After hosting the Pepineros, the Rojiblancos’ gaffer recognised that his team might have been slow in their last game. When questioned about it, he explained ‘we’re talking about specific aspects. Games sometimes get tough when rivals put you to the test... It’ll happen to us again... it happens even in phases of the same match, although not in such a way.’ On this subject, he then added ‘we’re calm because we know what we have to do. It’s not a serious problem but a common difficulty in this competition.’

When talking about next opponents Real Sporting de Gijón, Rubi stated ‘they’re a great team with an excellent squad. They also have a great stadium and a huge crowd which helps a lot. They usually get positive results at home. Although it’s true that they lost their last match on home soil, I think they played a very good game. We’re visiting one of the best ones.‘

The UD Almería head coach made it clear ‘we’re used to these situations and we only have to  focus on pushing our idea of the game forward and be very brave. We’re going to try to be a very brave Almería in Gijón.’

When asked about the expected results at El Molinón Enrique Castro ‘Quini’ Stadium, the Catalan replied ‘when you lose, you lose a lot. In this case, the great opportunity to have direct rivals 9 points behind on Matchday 14 would be outrageous. There’s no doubt that it’ll be a tough game but we want to win.’
