Rubi: 'These are just bumps in the road'

The UD Almeria gaffer feels proud of his players' attitude who went all out to draw with CD Lugo until the final whistle

'These are just bumps in the road, but I have no doubt that we're a clear candidates for the two top places,' reflected Rubi in the post-Lugo presser. The UD Almería head coach commented minutes after the defeat that he left 'very proud of his footballers' for the attitude they showed. Then, Rubi added: 'We've performed a second half in which we've fought until the very last second.'

The game analysis of the Catalan could be summed up in that the hosts scored 'more legal goals' than UD Almeria, since the visitors had two goals disallowed from the VAR. In addition, he regretted the fact of having started the game slow out of the traps and lacking precision.' It has been a long time since no one scored a goal against us following such a clear loss of the ball at the back,' he admitted.

The Rojiblancos' head coach had the feeling of having seen 'a good UD Almería squad' and that they continue to fight in this 'period of difficulties' that has been going on since last night's match at the Anxo Carro was called off last December.

In fact, Rubi did not hesitate to highlight that he had seen his team 'dominating and going all out to draw.' He listed some of the reasons why the Rojiblancos have merited at least a point, which led him to conclude: 'The team have deserved something more without a doubt, but what counts is that the ball goes into the back of the net without brushing the hand... well, we just have to accept it.'
