Rubi: ‘The team has been trying until the last second’

The head coach emphasises that his footballers cannot be blamed for their defeat as they ‘worked and fought’ to ‘try to win something positive’

After the defeat of UD Almería against SD Ponferradina, head coach Rubi stressed ‘the team has been trying until the last second’ and did so in the terms that, despite admitting that the Rojiblancos were not comfortable in some phases of the clash, he could not ‘reproach the footballers for anything’ who have worked and fought to win something positive.

In his post-match analysis in Ponferrada, the Catalan explained that he saw two teams looking for the goal from the start, later focusing on the fact that his men experienced some difficulties. ‘As the minutes passed, it was difficult for us to put together plays,’ added the head coach while underlining how difficult it is to play at El Toralín.

Sharing his feelings about the match further, Rubi said that it was hard for the Indalicos to find Sadiq up front, but beyond being a differential factor, he also listed the merits of Almería to have scored: ‘We had Ramazani's shot hitting the crossbar and some other goal scoring opportunities. We scared Ponferradina at the end because we did things to win, although, perhaps, not enough.’

In short, it was an ‘evenly matched game’ in which ‘Ponferradina were superior to us’, who, moreover, as the gaffer mentioned, found ‘the justice of the goal.’
