Rubi: ‘It’ll be 0-0 when Friday’s game starts, not 1-4 as the game ended at Anduva’

The head coach warns ‘we’re facing a big team and a great club. If we do not give it our all we’ll have a bad time’

UD Almeria head coach Rubi looked ahead to this Friday’s match between the Rojiblancos and the Pepineros at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium (kick-off 9pm Spain Time/ Matchday 13). The Catalan is keen on going ‘game by game’ in the long-distance race that LaLiga SmartBank supposes and not to be distracted by anything before the next game: ‘It’ll be 0-0 when Friday’s game against CD Leganes starts, not 1-4 as the game ended at Anduva.’

Rubi believes that there are neither easy matches nor weak teams within LaLiga SmartBank Every game is very important and so is the next one because ‘if we’re able to achieve a victory, we’ll have a total of 28 points, which is really positive. There will be unexpected setbacks so when we experience them, we’ll have some advantage,’ he specified.

The UD Almería first-team gaffer stressed ‘we’ve won two games using many players and we’re all very active; everyone wants to be included in the starting lineup and there’s no time to fall asleep,’ which is why he is looking to stay on track. After hosting CD Leganés on Friday, we’ll be visiting Sporting de Gijon next Tuesday. Rubi preferred not to talk about rotations with two such important and consecutive fixtures, although he clarified ‘we’ve got a plan.’

The Catalan coach is fully aware that CD Leganés are competitive rivals ‘they’re not weak opponents because they’ll not end up at the bottom,’ although he acknowledged ‘they might have some issues at the moment, but they still have significant potential.’ Furthermore, he explained ‘they could’ve been able to win some of the games that they didn’t win in the end, so the situation could’ve been rather different. They could not count on many injured players for two weeks despite their big squad. I expect an experienced starting XI. We all know who Fede Vico, José Arnáiz or Bárcenas are.’ Apart from this, Rubi pointed out ‘they have a head coach capable of taking CD Leganés forward, who can react at any time. We have to be alert and ready for anything. We’ll be facing a big team, a great club. If we don't give it our all, we'll have a bad time.’
