Íñigo Eguaras, a ton-up midfielder to bolster UD Almería’s midfield

The 29-year-old player signs a two-and-a-half-year deal after reaching a transfer agreement with Real Zaragoza

The UD Almería squad will be reinforced in this January transfer window with the signing of Íñigo Eguaras, a ton-up midfielder with unrivalled experience in Spanish second-tier LaLiga SmartBank who arrives at UD Almería after reaching an agreement with Real Zaragoza for his transfer. The Navarra native footballer signs a two-and-a-half-year deal until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Íñigo Eguaras Álvarez was born on 7th March, 1992 in Antsoain (Navarra). The player, who usually plays as a defensive midfielder, has a distinguished footballing career in Spain. After starting his career in football at the Athletic Club youth ranks, Íñigo ended up at CD Basconia before returning again to La Catedral to be part of ‘B’ team Bilbao Athletic until the 2014/15 season, when he left for CE Sabadell.

After a season playing for the Catalan side, the midfielder spent three seasons at CD Mirandés when his brilliant performances inspired Real Zaragoza to his signing. The 29-year-old ton-up player has spent the last three and a half seasons at the La Romareda club until now UD Almería have reached an agreement with his parent club for his definitive transfer.

Real Zaragoza skipper Eguaras has featured in a total of 21 games, 19 LaLiga SmartBank fixtures and 2 Spanish Cup ties. Now, the defensive-minded midfielder completes a move to the Rojiblancos’ squad as he perfectly fits in with head coach Rubi’s plans.
