The goalkeeper has been presented in the press room by UD Almería managing director Mohamed El Assy. The Galician stressed 'the collective good is good for the individual'

It's officially official. Diego Mariño has been presented as a new UD Almería goalkeeper at the Power Horse Stadium press room. The second January recruit has assured 'from minute one, I'm giving 100% for the team, whether I play or I don't because if UD Almería do well, I do well. Experience has shown me that the the collective good is good for the individual. On that note, Mariño has stressed 'I want the best for my team-mates and for the Club. It's crucial that we're all involved.' The goalie is wary of his purpose: 'I come to help achieve the team's goals, it's not about whether Fernando, Fuoli or I play, it's about all of us contributing so that UD Almería can stay up in the first division.'

Mariño recalled that he was highly motivated to join UD Almería because of the 'confidence and interest of the Club in him. Along with the personal experience that I have of having worked with Rubi's coaching staff.' Although the Galician keeper stressed that the main reason for his arrival was 'the opportunity that UD Almería have given me to return to the top tier.'

The second January recruit sees this stage at UD Almería as a new challenge in his footballing career: 'I'm prepared to face this new challenge in the Primera Division, because I've already played games in elite football.' Despite his extensive experience as a professional footballer, Mariño has admitted 'I still have the same desire, enthusiasm and hunger for football as when I made my debut at the age of 18 in the Segunda Division.'

Regarding UD Almería head coach Rubi, Mariño commented 'he's still the same person who coached me at Levante UD and Sporting de Gijon but a much better coach… with more experience and background.'
