Chumi out and about in collective training again

The centre-back underwent an operation on 23rd February. Question marks over the fitness of Rodrigo Ely and Ramazani.

UD Almería are back in training after taking their ease last Monday with the long-awaited presence of Chumi, who is now training again with the rest of the squad as normal. The central defender was operated on by Drs Ripoll and Prado on the past 23rd February for the fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot. Then, his recovery period was expected to take between two and three months, so the deadlines have been met.

Rodrigo Ely, who came off the pitch as he sustained an injury in San Sebastián, as well as Ramazani, who was absent at the Real Arena Stadium as the Belgian felt some discomfort, continue working their way back to full fitness. Both have done some exercises individually under the supervision of the conditioning coach and the eligibility of the centre-back and the forward will depend on how they are doing over the next few days.

UD Almería have trained in the Stadium given that the Anexo training base is getting its turf replaced. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday’s training sessions will be conducted behind closed doors on the Mediterraneo pitch. The squad members are fully focused on Saturday’s match against AD Alcorcon (KO 10pm Spain Time), a game that could rubber-stamp an immediate promotion to the top flight in case of victory.

There is plenty to play for at both ends of the LaLiga SmartBank table. The Rojiblancos are well aware that they should seize their great opportunity and they are not willing to miss it against guests who will go all out to avoid the drop. In fact, the Madrid-based side has already sprung more than one surprise in the championship and therefore, they are preparing themselves with full concentration and great responsibility.
