Almería Women eager to kick off 2022 on a high note

The Rojiblancas welcome La Rambla this Sunday at the Emilio Campra Youth Stadium (KO 12 noon)

UD Almería Women are to play their first game of 2022 and second reverse fixture against La Rambla at the Emilio Campra Stadium this Sunday (kick-off 12 noon). The Indálicas closed out 2021 sitting third, but thanks to their victory against Olympia Las Rozas in the first reverse fixture early before Christmas, the Rojiblancas were able to eat the grapes at midnight on New Year’s Eve in second position.

Now, back on the pitch, the girls from Almeria will face this second half of the season with boundless enthusiasm and humility. They are fully aware that there is a long and exciting way to go to reach the promotion positions at the end of the season. In fact, the competitiveness was demonstrated again last weekend —without Almería Women playing because they had already done so in Las Rozas (Madrid)— when their direct rivals won enough points to push Almeria Women back down to third place.

Next adversaries La Rambla will undoubtedly be tough players. The UD Almeria girls team were defeated by them 3-1 away from home last year. Now, Almería Women will have the opportunity to get revenge and remain undefeated at the Emilio Campra Youth Stadium.

Almeria Women head coach Álvaro García Burdalo will not reveal the team sheet until the time of knowing the starting line-up before 12 noon on Sunday.

UD Almeria Women fans will be able to access the Emilio Campra for free until the Youth Stadium is filled to capacity. Attendees have to wear a face mask at all times. The match will be livestreamed via UD Almeria Women’s Twitter: UD Almería Femenino (@FemeninoUDA).
