Almeria kick off 2020 with an unusual competition calendar

After playing the game in Lugo, Almeria will not play again in twelve days. Then the team will have a new encounter in just 72 hours

The SmartBank League season is about to resume with the week-by-week fixtures all confirmed as UD Almeria prepare to begin their title defence. Almeria kick off 2020 with an unusual competition calendar because after playing in Lugo, the squad will not do so again in twelve days. UD Almeria will host Real Oviedo at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium on Thursday 16th January. It must be taken into account that next weekend (11th -12th January) there will not be a matchday in the SmartBank League because of the Copa del Rey tournament. Therefore, that fixture has been scheduled to be played the following week, in which UD Almeria will also play against Extremadura UD on Sunday 19th January.

Having said that, Almeria will have just 72 hours (3 days) to recover between the meeting against the asturianos and the next one. This 72-hour gap includes a trip to Almendralejo, where the team will take on Extremadura UD.

After playing against three rivals who battle to avoid relegation, UD Almeria will end up January with a home game going toe-to-toe against Elche CF, who are fighting to raise up positions. Elche CF currently sit 8th in the Second Division table.
