5-0: UD Almeria ‘B’ breeze past rivals in last home game of season

The UDA Academy products thrashed Atlético de Porcuna to virtually seal their play-offs participation after Torredonjimeno’s loss

UD Almería ‘B’ closed out the regular season at home on fire and the subsequent defeat of Torredonjimeno in their match made them virtually seal their presence in the play-offs. The team from Almería breezed past Atlético de Porcuna without too much difficulty, which was a great team that the youth squad knew how to dominate at all times. Therefore, the encounter was practically decided in the first half with goals from Gilbert, Núñez and Cuenca so that, already in the second period, Rojas and Aitor Puñal made the final 5-0. Although the UDA Academy prospects will compete for promotion, they will have to go all out for a victory at the end of the regular season since the positions grant an advantage.

From the off it was clear that the youthful Rojiblancos were not going to be in too much trouble in their defensive third, but that the great game played on the Anexo Juegos Mediterráneos ground was going to allow the UDA youth team to return to winning ways and contest the play-offs for promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF.

With 10 minutes on the clock, several goal opportunities had already been created by the Indalicos with Gilbert opening the scoring in one of them (1-0). The footballer was attentive to a second ball, he kept it and sent it straight into the net. Several of these types of actions would be enjoyed during the opening 45 minutes, which would let the ball to be on UD Almeria B's attacking side all the time and, inside 31 minutes, Rafa Núñez scuttled into the area in a bid to double his team’s lead thanks to an explosive shot to the far post.

UD Almería ‘B’ were being superior in action. Not surprisingly, it was the hosts who really had more at stake and that need was vital for ambition to translate into more attacks. David Cuenca earned his name onto the scoresheet (3-0), heading home following a corner-kick just before half-time.

If netting three times was not enough for the home team.. more goals would come over the course of the second period. In fact, Óscar Fernández's lads only needed 8 minutes after the restart to extend their lead more over guests Atlético de Porcuna (5-0), which would end up being the final result, since the young players from the UDA Academy continued to put in a commanding display up until the full-time whistle.  In addition, after the defeat experienced by Torredonjimeno in their match, UD Almería ‘B’ have virtually sealed their presence in the play-offs for promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF. Of course, the Rojiblancos must win in the last week of the regular season because higher positions grant an advantage. The promotion will be played as a single-legged game and Estepona will be the neutral venue for the qualifiers.
