3-1: Fourth astounding back-to-back win and provisional lead

UD Almería outplay CF Fuenlabrada with overwhelming dominance. A three-goal blitz from scorers Arnau, Sadiq and Sousa

UD Almería obtained their fourth astounding back-to-back win, which gives them the provisional LaLiga SmartBank lead after a thrilling game in which the Rojiblancos beat CF Fuenlabrada after showing overwhelming dominance to deserve the final score (3-1). Arnau Puigmal put the Indalicos ahead 30 minutes in, although the visitors equalised before half-time. The hosts enjoyed the feel good factor throughout the second half until goals courtesy of Sadiq and Sousa granted victory to UD Almeria, who once again felt the enthusiastic support from their energetic fans.

There were some changes made to the starting XI due to the absences. Fernando; Aitor Buñuel, Carriço, Babić, Akieme, Samú Costa, Eguaras, Arnau, Portillo, Ramazani and Sadiq were in contention for an encounter in which UD Almeria fashioned their first chance inside 5 minutes, but Ramazani, after dribbling past the goalkeeper, did not manage to hit the target.

UD Almería gained momentum with the passing of the minutes. With 30 minutes on the clock, Sadiq Umar entered the area, sent it at the far post and compatriot Arnau Puigmal turned up there just on time to open the scoring in fashion (1-0). The joy of the goal, however, was accompanied by the bad news of the injury of Daniel Carriço who was forced off the pitch.

Shortly after the Indalicos’ opener, the 1-1 was produced as opponent Bouldini grabbed the equaliser to level things up before the break. It was the first and last time that CF Fuenlabrada created danger towards the goal with Fernando under the sticks.

UD Almería lorded it over in the second half. After several fine attempts, within 66 minutes, Sadiq headed home to break the deadlock after a great free-kick from a wide position (2-1). The south-coast team seemed to be on fire and fully involved to further extend their lead over the Madrid-based visitors. And so it was…the match was heading towards its conclusion and out of the blue, Dyego Sousa sealed the astounding win by slamming the third in (3-1).

There was another party at Juegos Mediterráneos on Friday night! The incessant chants by the devoted supporters could be heard a long way from the Stadium. The enthusiastic fans celebrated UD Almería's fourth astounding consecutive victory, which provisionally fired them to the first position in the Spanish Segunda Division table.
