3-0: Unstoppable UD Almeria ‘B’ canter to comfortable win

The UDA Academy products beat CF Motril, climb into second place and get closer to meeting their objective of entering the play-offs

UD Almería ‘B’ have extended their excellent eight-week unbeaten streak and are now close to securing their presence in the play-offs for promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF. The UDA Academy products achieved their fifth win on the bounce after beating CF Motril 3-0 in a match in which the boys from Almeria dominated and scored all the chances. Goals from Fermín, Aitor Puñal and Avelino earned Óscar Fernández's side a comfortable win to sit second in the table and beat the Granada-based team on goal difference.

After a game start in which Almería ‘B’, with more possession of the ball, sought to create enough danger in the opponent’s box, it was in the 18th minute when Kevin sent the first warning in a hit from the edge of the area that went just over the post. Shortly after, Aitor Puñal was hacked down in the area and Fermín put the hosts ahead from 12 yards (1-0).

Far from showing a confident style of play with the advantage, the lads from Almeria continued to go on the attack and Marciano’s header was about to score the second. The only shot between the three sticks of CF Motril in the entire encounter was experienced, this being a free-kick from the edge that received a great response from Diego Fuoli. Anyway, it did not seem that the Indalicos dominance was in danger before the break and furthermore, Marciano engineered a big chance in a 50-50 duel.

The scenario did not change in the second half. What's more, soon after returning from the dressing rooms, Marciano would once again take a leading role in an attacking play in which only the post could deny the striker’s power. More luck would have, however, Aitor Puñal, who, in minute 57, won the ball back in midfield, went on the run and finished off to double their lead through a lob of great quality (2-0).

UD Almería ‘B’ maintained the tension during the remaining time of the game. In addition, Óscar Fernández's boys were very well organised so that the outcome was leading to an all-important victory. Avelino’s goal sealed a 3-0 victory with a powerful shot from the edge of the box that beat goalie Jorge.

In this way, UD Almería ‘B’ have extended their eight-week unbeaten streak with the last five Match weeks achieving victories. This has allowed the Academy prospects to sit second and stay very close to certifying their presence in the promotion play-offs. There are three Matchdays to go.
