3-0: UD Almería one step closer to their dream!

3 is the magic number: 3 goals and 3 huge points. The Rojiblancos clearly turn on the style to hold a jubilant celebration at the Juegos Mediterraneos

A jubilant celebration at the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium was the lively post-game scene of an astounding victory for UD Almería over SD Amorebieta. The Indálicos are now one step closer to their dream of next year competing in the top flight. After a scoreless first half, the second was dominated by the hosts until an own goal, as well as a header from Babić and a third drilled by Sadiq sealed a 3-0 victory. President Turki Alalshikh experienced the match live at the stadium and saw first-hand the great football displayed by his team and the spirit of a devoted home crowd.

Although Rubi's men made a huge effort, the home team did not manage to find a way to break the deadlock during the first period. Some fine attempts by the hosts would be witnessed, also some opportunities created by the visitors, albeit without capitalising on their chances. There was no way through for either side at the break (0-0).

It was then that, in a metaphorical way, UD Almería remained alone on the field. Shortly after the return from the changing rooms, Ramazani sent the ball into the side netting while Portillo popped up into the box to test the reflexes of goalie Unai. These chances would be the opening act for the 1-0, which came inside 54 minutes with an own goal after a defender fired a previous shot by Samú Costa inside.

From that point on, the UD Almeria warriors piled forward on the attack and did not stop setting up and whipping in chances that would seal their victory sooner rather than later. With 74 minutes on the clock, again from a set-piece, the Rojiblancos doubled their advantage through Babić, who jumped higher than the SD Amorebieta defenders and scored a thumping header (2-0).

UD Almería were very much in the ascendancy looking unstoppable. Moreover, a golden opportunity presented itself from a penalty. However, the goalkeeper pulled off a great save in the shot from 12 yards as he would do shortly after again to block an explosive shot by Samú Costa.

All of a sudden, Sadiq Umar took the ball under control and after his driving run towards the area, the Nigerian winded his way past the keeper and found the back of the net with his very own touch of magic. It was the end of a big game (3-0).

The fans had a whale of a time at the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium and did not fail to support UD Almeria in a sold out game with a new record attendance. In turn, Turki Alalshikh took a seat in the authorities' box, whose arrival was enthusiastically welcomed by all the supporters who were  in full voice. The Club President and owner enjoyed a day of days as UD Almeria are one step closer to their dream of promotion to the LaLiga Santander.
