1-3: UD Almería take first swipe in the league

Scintillating game for the Rojiblancos in Cartagena with an opener from Sadiq and a brace by Ramazani. Javi Robles debuted with the first team

UD Almería collected the first three points of the 2021/22 season after playing a scintillating game versus FC Cartagena. The UD Almeria contenders showed their goal scoring prowess as a solid team with an opener from Sadiq and a double from Ramazani. With this result (1-3), the Indálicos kick off the season with a convincing win looking forward to next Friday’s meeting with Real Oviedo at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium

It was a spirited first half for the Rojiblancos. Rubi's team relied on organisation, intensity, effective passing and they knew how to play out from the back to go ahead first and double their advantage before the interval. Keeper Fernando; Aitor Buñuel, Chumi, Iván Martos, Akieme; Samú Costa, Robertone, Curro, Lazo, Ramazani and Sadiq were named in the first starting XI of the 2021/22 season.

In the first two minutes UD Almeria were close to putting themselves in front, but Marc Martínez was the saviour in a hit from the edge of the box, first, and shortly after taking a corner-kick. However, it would not take long for the Indálicos to find the opener. With 19 minutes gone, Lazo was attentive to get the ball back and handed it over to the unmarked Sadiq, who was absolutely confident to slot home (0-1).

UD Almería continued to perform with a well organised defence and intensity up front to prevent Fernando from suffering before the break. Quite the contrary, the visitors gradually gained momentum again until Largie Ramazani finished on 35 minutes as the ball found him after a clearance from a defender and the Belgian slammed in the second just before half time (0-2).

Rubi's men undoubtedly touched perfection in the first half. FC Cartagena were given the hint of being able to fight back in the encounter, since the hosts tried to overcome a two-goal deficit thanks to a stunning goal from Luna. Barely three minutes had passed since the restart when the 1-2 was a reality.

Anyway, UD Almería broke the FC Cartagena momentum as best they could. It was the 61st minute and by then, the boys in red and white shirts had positive vibes once again as Ramazani picked up the ball in a rebound when Marc Martínez blocked Samú Costa’s fine effort (1-3).

The opening game for UD Almeria came to an end with the Indalicos looking perfectly confident. Almeria ‘B’ young player Javier Robles debuted as a player with the first team replacing Robertone in the midfield. UD Almería stunned FC Cartagena with a convincing 1-3 victory collecting the first three points of the 2021/22 season.
