1-1: UD Almería fall short of victory at the end

It was a good showing from the Rojiblancos but the spoils were shared after a late equaliser from UD Las Palmas within 90 minutes.

UD Almería fell short of victory after experiencing an unexpected and underserved setback right at the end of the game. It was in the 90th minute when Jonathan Viera took advantage of Chumi’s slip when defending and scored the late equaliser (1-1), but before the Indálicos had done a great job on the pitch, especially in the first half, which allowed them to go for a long time. time ahead thanks to a goal from Portillo. In the end, the Rojiblancos bagged one point in a highly competitive clash, although with the feeling of deserving more.

Rubi did not change anything in the starting XI and from the off, the great way of playing in the last fixtures was also maintained. In point of fact, in half an hour, the Rojiblancos started to fire warning shots, the most remarkable being a great save by Raúl Fernández before a strike by César de la Hoz, and a shot by Ramazani that grazed the post.

The UD Almeria fans jumped from their seats at the Mediterraneo when Francisco Portillo picked up a rebound and beat the goalkeeper with a kick over the top. Shortly after 1-0, the second was about to arrive, yet the keeper made a great intervention to denied Ramazani’s fine effort that was deflected by a defender. Of course, before half-time, Fernando punched an opponent’s shot to keep his team in the lead.

In the second half, there was bad news for the Rojiblancos team. Barely 3 minutes had passed since the restart when Ramazani had to be substituted suffering from physical pain. To make matters worse, Robertone, who created a good chance from a corner-kick, forced the goalkeeper into a smart save on a direct free-kick, also had to come off the field due to a muscle injury. It was the 69th minute.

There was still time ahead with UD Almería putting up a goof fight. Las Palmas, meanwhile, were sending attackers up front. The visitors survived, resettled and found a response. Chumi slipped in a through pass and adversary Jonathan Viera found space to score the equaliser on 90 minutes (1-1).

The Rojiblancos bit the bullet and did not give up to come off with another home victory. A goal attempt could leave the three points at the Juegos Mediterraneos during added time, being Arvin Appiah responsible for a very clear scoring opportunity, whose shot went high. Well, there was no time for more. There was a share of the spoils as the great work of the Indálicos did not reward them with a prize.
