1-0: Almeria ‘B’ score triumph to climb into the top of table

The youngsters beat Huétor Vega in the stiff wind with a goal from match-winner Aitor Puñal

The UD Almería ‘B’ team won again to climb into the top of the table. Óscar Fernández's boys managed to play a tough game in the stiff wind to score another triumph courtesy of match-winner Aitor Puñal who found the back of the net in the second period. The youngsters beat Huétor Vega to clinch their second consecutive victory and place themselves at the top of the league table.

Almería ‘B’ returned to the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos ground. Both teams went all out for a win but without being able to create any big chance in those initial stages. As time began to wind down, the Indálicos were more and more superior. After half an hour, Lokosa’s powerful shot tested the reflexes of the visitor keeper who kept it out. Shortly before, the Academy team had already warned with a header from Ginés. The players were playing a spoiled game as it was impossible to play direct football due to a strong wind blowing and that, at times, prevented the ball from reaching its destination.

That way of attacking with the ball rolling on the grass was key to open the scoring. It was in the 56th minute when a breakaway from Lokosa found Aitor Puñal, who beat the goalkeeper (1-0).

At that time, the encounter saw ambitious Rojiblancos who worked hard to fire that second to give them peace of mind. It is true that a direct free-kick taken by Fermín hit the woodwork unfortunately.

Rachad debuted with Almería ‘B’ in the last minutes of play, an Academy product who is still part of the under-19s and in recent weeks has had the opportunity to debut in Liga Nacional, Division de Honor and now in Tercera Division RFEF.

All in all, Almeria ‘B’ knew how to win a difficult game, reach the highest part of the group IX table and therefore, continue to grow stronger among those who fight for promotion to Segunda Division RFEF.
