0-1: Almeria could have it all

The rojiblancos put the blame on the goal that Racing scored on 15 minutes. Almeria dominated during the second-half but could not make it through.

UD Almeria could not achieve a victory. This is their second consecutive home defeat. The thing is that Almeria managed to win only one point out of the nine points they could have won. Racing de Santander wore Almeria down with their commitment on the defensive end. Santander scored the early opener and prevented us from staging a comeback.

Although the rojiblanco team tried to be in the lead in the first minutes, the Cantabrians with José Luis Oltra in the driving seat, stopped Almeria from scoring a goal. Racing de Santander were ahead on the scoreboard thanks to Cejudo after 14 minutes, who beat Fernando when it was a one-on-one situation in a breakaway. The rojiblancos put the blame on the early opener, even though they created chances to put the ball in Luca Zidane’s net.

José María Gutiérrez decided to make two changes in the second-half. Juan Muñoz and Vada took over Appiah and Aguza in order to increase the pace and create high-risk scoring chances. Almeria turned the game around and was on the edge to find the net. The opponents’ keeps and defenders made things difficult to our side. Time was running out and our adversaries were in the lead. In addition, visitors knew how to kill time and stop the game to pay attention to their own players with discomfort.

With these arguments the result would not change and the rojiblancos ... and their fans ended up gutted by this setback against a team at the foot of the table who surprised everyone. In spite of everything, Almeria will continue runners-up in the standings.
